Don’t Abort the Mission!

Collectively, the body of Christ is unifying on all fronts. We are embracing the new and walking in our divine measures of grace. While the world is getting darker and chaos seems to be on the rise, Christ is calling us to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Achan in the camp?
We often read or hear about someone who seems to be progressing in life getting distracted from their goal of success. Most of these stories end with a voided promise lingering and a mission aborted by the person who was assigned to complete the task. We see this in the bible with Achan, an Israelite who was fighting under the leadership of Joshua. God had promised Joshua that wherever his feet was to tread that he and the Israelites were going to have victory. However, after conquering Jericho, the Israelites decided to pursue a territory called, Ai. God gave instruction to Joshua and the Israelites that once Jericho was conquered that they were prohibited from taking of the accursed things in Jericho. Achan however, aborted the mission and took of the accursed things and hid them in his tent. One carnal decision that cost the Israelites the victory at Ai.
Every Spiritual advance onsets a spiritual attack
Every time you are progressing in life rather spiritually or naturally the enemy will sneak in to attempt to stop your progression. Why? Progression is your enemies, enemy. Satan doesn’t want you, wanting better for yourself. He wants you bound mentally and stagnated physically and spiritually. Progression means you’re moving forward. As a Christian, progression should bring you closer to becoming the person that God has called you to be.
The bible tells us, that the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) but how can he do that if we are focused on what God is telling us to do? He can’t! He first must distract you from what God has said by getting your mind on carnal things. Romans 8:6 says,

“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

If carnality is leading me into death than it shows that carnal thinking causes separation between us and God, who is our source of life.
Look at Achan, he became distracted by all of the nice things he could have. The bible says that, Achan coveted the silver, gold and the beautiful robe. It was his fleshy desires that distracted him from what God commanded him to do.

Carnal – pertaining to or characterized by the flesh or the body, its passions and appetites; sensual; not spiritual; merely human; temporal; worldly

What about You?
God is calling us, to move on one accord and be in alignment with his word. He’s calling us, to upgrade and launch into our God ordained grace and call. He’s calling us, to be more like him but what is causing us to become distracted? What is the, accursed thing that we are holding for ourselves because we want it so badly? What is the, carnal or fleshy things that have our attention so much that we aren’t focused on the battle or gaining momentum? What is it, that has caused us to abort the mission that God has placed us on?
The interesting thing about Achan is that, Achan was a warrior. He was prepared for battle. He was with Joshua at Jericho, so he knew what was required of him. He knew the purpose of the mission. He was to fight in God’s army and to utterly destroy the land of Jericho and leave behind the accursed things — he knew that.
Many of us, know where God would have us to be. We know, what he has called us to do or say. We know, that Jesus tells us in Luke 9:62, “No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Many of us, even though we are fairly quick to point out why we believe Achan should have been punished – Don’t see ourselves as he.
What is God saying?
I was driving in my car when the Holy Spirit began to speak to me about distraction and carnality. The enemy wants to distract you from your; mission, call, place of authority so that you won’t fully walk into what God has for you. Don’t allow distraction or carnal thinking to cause you to abort the mission that God has for you. Too much is at risk when we are operating out of flesh instead of listening and obeying the word of God.
I believe I shared this dream before but I think it’s relevent to state again for the sake of the this post.

Dream: There was a battle going on and I went into a cave were people were hiding. The people that were in the cave came out after I had got done speaking to them and joined the war that was going on. As I was coming out of the cave, I was speaking and as I was speaking arrows were coming out of my mouth.

Now, is not the time to become carnal. Now, is not the time to hide in a cave. Now, it is time to become the person you were created to be in Christ Jesus. The bible says in Romans 8:9, “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Can you see why the enemy is trying to distract you? The bigger picture of this, is not so much “you” being distracted. The bigger picture is the cost of your distraction. When you are not obedient to what God is calling you to do, then lives are at stake; we lose battles, your seat of authority is vacant, your influence is tainted, people won’t see Christ in you and people won’t come to Christ. Your distraction cost more than what you can afford to pay back. So go forth, being bold and courageous in Christ Jesus and keep your mind stayed upon him.
Prayer
Thank you Lord, for being so great in our lives. We come before you asking, that as we go forward and steward over the sphere you have given unto us, that we won’t become distracted. We pray against distraction and carnal thinking. We empty ourselves out, Lord, so that you can fill us again. Fill us with your mind, peace and life. Teach us to have self-control over our flesh, so that we don’t make carnal decisions. Teach us how to stay on course so we won’t abort the mission. No abortions in Jesus name! But we will go full term and birth the things that you have put in our inner man. We will declare the goodness of the Lord because your hand is upon us. You are fighting for us because we are in right alignment with you. We come out of the cave and we are standing on our watch. You reign on the throne of our hearts and we are obedient to your word. What you tell us to do, we will do father. We won’t leave our battle station until you say, it is finished. We won’t leave until you say, the enemies camp has been utterly destroyed. We leave behind the accursed things, as your word has told us to do. We will not fear but we will launch the missiles of faith and we declare victory in Jesus Name – AMEN!
