Millennial Christian

  • Psalm 119: 9 ” How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your word…” (msg)
  • Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don’t give up…”
  • 1 Timothy 4:12 “10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
  • Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. “
  • Isaiah 40: 29-31 “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
  • Psalm 127:4 “As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.”

Being a millennial that loves God is becoming even more uncommon. Millennials are walking away from religion and turning to spirituality to drive their moral compass. Any form of religion is now being looked at as a form of slavery that is meant to keep them from being “woke” from a true reality. However, even though spirituality is supposed to govern their moral compass, it in essence has no boundaries.

I began to wonder, why is there such a breach between the millennials and the previous generations? How can it be, that, the previous generations had fire in their spirit but millennials overall, shut up the bowels of their compassion? I was originally going to go down a different path discussing a different topic but the Lord really began to deal with me on the different attacks the enemy has launched. War has been waged against the destinies of millennials.
While writing this, the Lord gave me 3 attacks that the enemy has been using to widen the breach between the generations and how he’s not after just you but this generation and generations to come. He has been dismantling the armor of many millennials. However, the great news is, God is raising up skilled warriors like Joshua that will defeat the enemy.
FIRST ATTACK: Reject rocky foundation for sandy
SECOND ATTACK: No God-conscious, only self-conscious
THIRD ATTACK: Put on your mental blinders and lock away your emotions

The first attack is probably the most vicious attack. If the enemy can remove the foundation from underneath you than what are you standing on? The foundation of Christ has been rejected in many people lives. Which only leaves people building upon sandy foundations (Mathew 7:24-27).
Overall, we don’t have fortitude or substance. If you disagree than please look around. Overall, we want instant gratification, when we don’t get our way we become aggressive, and most of the time we are more willing to sell out for a cause so that we can be accepted amongst the masses. If we can only build upon sand (our pride, our will, our mentality) when life gets hard we will fall because our own abilities can’t withstand the winds that life blows.
Now, that we are standing on a faulty foundation, we are always looking for affirmation. We get affirmation from others or ourselves. YOLO (you only live once)! But because we aren’t connected to the source (God) who brings us identity and affirmation by his word, our search turns into desperation. All of a sudden, we are willing to do and say anything. This desperation can lead us into ignoring or turning off our God-conscious and turning up our self-conscious. We then start to operate out of our own intellect. How can we listen to God when we have turned our back to him? How can we know the direction for our lives if we aren’t connected to him? This is the second attack.
We rejected our foundation, we turned off our God-conscious and now many of us are left with mental blinders on and are in emotional prisons. This is the third attack. Souls are being left in turmoil because they aren’t connected to the source that can free them from their pain. But because the enemy has place mental blinders on people only thing they are focused on is their issues. They can’t think bigger, they don’t believe freedom exist, and peace is foreign. Their mind is subject to their pain and issues.
While their pain is increasing, the enemy afflicts them with numbness. Now, you hear people say, “I don’t want to feel anymore.” “I’m cold hearted.” “That doesn’t bother me.” WHY? It’s because the pain got so deep and kept reoccurring that it has become their norm.
There are many attacks the enemy is using to fight the millennials, I just named three. I believe the enemy is fighting this generation so viciously because he knows the power that we have. I agree with many millennials, the days of tradition are over but you must remain connected to your source, God!
Perhaps, you are a millennial reading this post and you say, “I’m connected to God.” Praise God. I pray that everyone understands that I’m not pointing out one millennial but the generation as a whole.
Even though the enemy is launching attacks there is hope.

(Dream) “I was standing beside God and many people were marching from all different directions on one accord towards myself and God…”
(Dream) “A war was going on and I went to this cave and rallied up the people in it. Everyone came out to join the war. As I was speaking fiery darts were coming out of my mouth.”

In scripture, when Elijah was hiding from Jezebel he ran into Obadiah. Elijah believes he is the only prophet left that hasn’t bowed to false religion/gods. Obadiah tells him that, he has been hiding God’s prophets in caves. The enemy wants you to think millennials aren’t living for Christ. That being a Christian is so unpopular that you might as well join everyone else and reap the benefits of popularity.
I believe that God is raising up Joshua’s that will be obedient and contend and overcome the enemies of our generation. Joshua was a young man who moved from the foot of the mountain into a skilled warrior that possessed the land.
If you are a millennial Christian that God is raising up, allow him to raise you up. Don’t let fear grip you. Fear is a device from the devil that stops people from operating in the flow of God. We need all men/women at their battle stations.
Our Weaponry:
  • Prayer
  • Fasting
  • Reading & Applying the Word of God
  • Staying in the presence of God
  • Humbleness
  • Ephesians 6:10-18

Pray against these attacks. Read your bible. Don’t become so comfortable and say, “That’s them and not me.” If we do that, than we are operating with the devil more than we think. God is calling us to be set a part but we still must be Christ-like and not condemn.
Maybe, you’re a millennial that is saying, “I am in desperate need of my soul being healed and free.” The wonderful thing about God and his grace is, he forgives and he’s able to save you right were you are at. You are never too dirty that God’s love can’t clean you up. Please join me in saying this prayer,

Lord, I ask that you will forgive me. I repent of my sins. Lord, you know the very depths of my heart. You know where I am in you. Lord, I need healing for my soul. I humble myself and submit my will to you. I realize that you are my source and I have been disconnected from you. But Father, I’m here right now because I want to be reconnected again. Lord, you know the areas of my life that I struggle the most in. Lord, I can’t do it by myself. I am casting my cares upon you because you care for me. Teach me how to walk in faithfulness and obedience. Raise me up to be the person you have called me to be. I want to view myself like you view me. I want to fulfill the purpose and destiny over my life that you predestined before time. So, here is my life Lord… take control. In Jesus Name… Amen.

GO FORTH!
